Zun\u00e4chst ging es in den Raum Kassel. In Baunatal besteht die Besonderheit im Mischverkehr zwischen Eisenbahn und Stra\u00dfenbahn, die hier auf der Eisenbahnstrecke betrieben wird. In Borken (Hessen) befindet sich noch ein Behelfsstellwerk auf Basis einer Donnerb\u00fcchse. Ferner sind hier an mehreren Stellen Relikte des Braunkohlebergbau zu finden. So unter anderem das Lokdenkmal auf dem Dreischienengleis. Weiter ging es in den Harz. In Nordhausen verkehrt die DUO-Tram auf den Gleisen der Harzer Schmalspurbahn. Bei der Gelegenheit besuchten wir das NS-Arbeitslager Mittelbau-Dora, wo tausende H\u00e4ftlinge den Tod fanden. Das Lager ist gleichzeitig ein Eisenbahnrelikt &#8211; man hatte hier ganze Z\u00fcge im Berg verschwinden lassen. In Ellrich passiert ein Nahverkehrszug st\u00fcndlich die ehemalige innerdeutsche Grenze, wovon noch ein Wachturm zeugt. In der N\u00e4he befindet sich au\u00dferdem ein Bergwerk, der Rabensteiner Stollen,  an dem die Schmalspurbahn vorbeif\u00fchrt. Zuletzt passten wir zwischen Blankenburg und Halberstadt den abendlichen Kalkzug ab. Dieser wird derzeit von einem HVLE Blue Tiger bespannt und verkehr zuverl\u00e4ssig Mo, Mi und Fr zwischen 19:30 und 20:30. Zuk\u00fcnftig ist eine Bespannung mit Stadler Eurodual geplant. Besteht der Zug aus mehr als 30 Waggons, ist mit einer anschlie\u00dfenden Bedienung der R\u00fcbelandbahn zu rechnen.
